Vineyard WOF tests and the science behind them
Wed 20th October & Wed 27th October
Time: 11 am – 12.30 pm
Place: Webinar & regional field days
Join Dr Charles Merfield as he discusses a range of five-minute soil health measurements and the science behind them. He will explore everything from worm counts to hot water carbon, the ring infiltration test to visual soil assessment and much more. It’s the OWNZ Vineyard WOF, which can be applied by anyone, in any vineyard.
Charles Merfield, HND Comm. Hort., M.Appl.Sci. Hons, PhD, MRSNZ, otherwise known as Merf, is the head of the BHU Future Farming Centre and Merfield Agronomy Ltd, which are dedicated to the science and extension of permanent and whole-system agricultures and horticultures, such as organic agriculture, agroecology, and regenerative agriculture. He has over thirty years experience, both as a grower, having managed organic vegetable farms in both his native UK and adopted New Zealand, and as a scientist finding practical and effective physical, biological and ecological solutions to agricultural challenges.
The discussion will be moderated by Nick Paulin and will conclude with Q&A where participants can type in their questions.
Practical regional field days will follow the webinar, from 11am - 12.30pm on Wednesday 27 October. Please indicate your interest when registering and we will be in touch with more information.
